I had a similar experience a few years ago but didn't think to take pictures as I was too busy protecting them.
I was pruning a hedge in Palm Desert when I realized I had exposed such a nest. Now the direct sun down there can be brutal so I thought I had created a major problem the hummers.....so for the next weeks I spent my time wiring branches to surrounding foliage to form a shade canap? as all of what you recorded took place.

Anyway "we" successfully raised the little buggers ...what impressed me [besides the little jelly bean eggs] was how crowded that nest got before they left.
