I proposed to my wife in our drift boat. I had a custom made #6 done up for her, and gave it to her that morning. After dropping the anchor to tie on a new fly for her, I tied on the ring and told her "take a good look at that fly, i know it is good for at least one". She grabbed the leader to look at the fly and saw the ring, while i dropped to one knee in the boat and asked her to be my fishing partner for the rest of our lives. I am pretty sure she said yes, but it was hard to understand with all the crying, tears and a smile. While she did not catch any fish with that fly, I sure did land a good one with it!

Just be original, and try and keep it simple. If your plan makes you blush or well up in tears, it will probably work.

Have fun, Jeff
