so far all of my trout fishing has been done with dry flies.I am always able to catch a number of fish on drys even when i dont see many fish taking flies or rising in the water. the water i am fishing is ussually only 1 - 3 or maybe 4 feet deep in its deepest holes. maybe that plays a big role in the fish still seeing my fly ontop. what i am wondering is, if the fish are not rising, will or should a numph be more successful for me? I try and stick to dry flies because i love the top water action and so far its worked very well. Its like i want to fish with nymphs but why fix something if its not broken. any thoughts?
