Being one of those who fish for the Striper in your/our area I am always interested in what is going on. I am concerned about the health of the Striper population, but if the numbers get too large the herring and bait fish populations get too small making it difficult for Stripers to grow to a larger size. I also percieve an increase in the number of seals which effect the population as well. I don't know how you balance that out, but wish that some wise did.

I do think a slot limit is a good idea with a restrictive number of fish allowed. I'd suggest a slot of 20-26 inches 2 fish per day and then 1 trophy fish over 50 lbs. This would allow the larger fish to preproduce and their genetic tendency to larger size would be enhanced. Interestingly, Stripers are one kind of fish that produces more eggs the larger they get, going to the largest of size. Most other species produce more eggs up to a certain point then the extra size does not get more eggs.
