    Default Casting a rocket

Bought a Scott SAS 6 wt. (never been used) for a hundred bucks. Took it down to the pond and had at it. Whoa! That flie would still be moving East had I not pulled it in. I always thought it was casting style that determined speed and distance, but this with this rod I swear there was smoke and flames coming out of the flie tail. I am in love.

    GF,

I always thought it was casting style that determined speed and distance, ...
It still is casting style/technic. Just so happens that (IMO) you've found a rod/line combo that jives with your style to form an effective cast.

Have fun. I love this sport !!

Christopher, this means that I will be on the lookout for a 3 wt, a 5 wt, and a 9 wt SAS

    How ever will I manage?

Really, I was awestruck by the ease of every cast. It was almost effortless.

    GF,

The same model in different weights can behave a tad differently.

Or that could work quite well. Did for me.

Unfortunately for me, when I found that same "spot", it was a Sage XP. Guess what most of my workhorse rods are ?

You know if Mario Andreddy and I traded his race car for my truck I'll bet I could beat him around the track...... Sometimes it is the equipment and not just the driver.

yes, a hundred bucks! I know not what the retail was, but I know that I got a deal. This is the first time I have cast a rod that felt like I was driving a sports car through the mountains.

Cold, with no experience? I'd bet on Mario. You'd kiss the wall.

You should send that comment to Scott. They might make you person of the month or something.

A good caster can cast far and accurate with any rod. A good caster with a good rod can cast farther and be more accurate with alot more ease.
