Default foam block kick boats

there has been a spate of renewed interest in foam block kick boats such as this one

Known variously as "The Kicker" "Water Wagon" and "Fish N Pal" - they seem to have had a period of (relatively) strong popularity and then faded.

Do any of you folks have info or images or stories or data of any sort on these water craft?

thank you

I don't know Robin. It looks an awful lot like a popper used for Gators to me. . . .

Ed reports as follows
quote:
I've been thinking of making myself something like these for a while. I think they look cool. The lawn chair seat gives it a special look. Question, how are they when some Merc 300 creates a wake???

When I did a job installing some high cost acustical foam PL 300 was recommended. It comes in a caulk sized tube. Many building supply / lumber yards carry it. Here's an ifo page on the stuff. PL 300 is a bit stiff and as with anything new it pays to play on some scrap pieces first. I went and checked ouy the dimensions \.I think I might try to build one and set it up for trolling motor. It should be easier to load than my canoe by myself, especially since hernia surgery in March.I will experiment with some latex rubberized roof coat on scrap.Let ya know how it works on the foam.

Hey Teasels,

Epoxy resin works on the foam as does
the Rhinohyde poly system. Anything with
a thinner in it will eat the foam. For a
cheap and non toxic finish, I have used a
camo cotton fabric applied with Tight bond.
Warm regards, Jim
