Default Boa yarn and grass carp fly

Recently there has been interest in the Bernat Boa yarn...and there also has been questions about carp flies....here is an interesting fly relating to both....

The twisting technique is of course furling and it could be used in a number of other patterns with that yarn or similar yarns...e.g. leech patterns or anything needing a tail.

    What a cool fly !!!!

I do not fish for carp. However I frequently use the twisting technique to create a tail.

I prefer (especially when tying with the longer eyelash yarns) to twist the yarn in a clip (such as a bulldog clip found at office supply stores). I then remove the twisted yarn from the clip and tie in to the hook. With the eyelash yarns I find it easer to keep the "eyelashes" from getting caught between the strands when I work with the yarn pointed towards me.

in a peculiar sense a part of Nature themselves,
are often in a more favorable mood for observing her,
in the intervals of their pursuits,
    than philosophers or poets even,
    who approach her with expectation."

Here's a little "irony"...was at Wal-Mart yesterday and as usual wondered through the yarn and saw a Red Heart yarn called Foxy...the color..."Grass"....looks like it would be perfect for this type of fly....and some others.
