    Default Adapdability of Fish

I have been fishing a new lake that recently got public access. Not large size but great quantities of 12"bass , Rock bass and large bluegills. Clear water with a whitish grey silt bottom. The fish are the color of the bottom, very bleached out, but healthy. It always amazes me as to how nature adapts to the environment around them. Here is the quandry. The prey also adapts. So do you match the hatch or go to the other extreme with bold or dark colored flies? I've had good luck with yellow Caterpillars,Black wooley buggers, and any thing Chartruese. What would you do?

    Coach,
My own general rule of thumb in clear water is to start with something subtle as in olive, brown, tan, gray (nature's colors) and in stained water something loud as in BLACK or chartruese.
