We have a healthy family squabble about this. The Exotic One prefers Northern Pike, probably because she has caught the two biggest ones between us and probably remembers a certain shorelunch in the BWCA after one such conquest. Me? Give me channel cat. I also like LMB. But gills and crappies are excellent, too. My neighbors here in MN die for walleye, but like most everything else about their ice-encrusted culture, they're much too bland for me. I spice up my dust with a bunch of Tony Chachere's to give them life in the skillet! jgw

    Best:
    1)Yellow Perch
    2)Walleye
    3)Bluegill/Sunfish
    4)Small Channel Cats
    5)Small Crappie

    Worst (that I've eaten)
    1)Bass
    2)Trout
    3)Muskie
    4)Big Crappie (over 12")
    5)Any big fish (Walleye > 20", Perch > 16", etc.)

These are my favorite eating fish:
    1.yellow perch
    2.small brookies
    3.gills
    4.small walleye
    5.small bows

a rock bass would get my vote as the absolute worst eating fish!

I like other panfish the best: Bluegill, redear and goggle-eye especially. But there's surely a lot to be said for a sac-au-lait (crappie) don't get me wrong!

1 lean 1/4 pound burger on the grill!!
    ........................

Sorry boys, I'm not a fish eater. But when I do, it's those sunnies, scaled, gutted and pan fried as was mentioned.

--Then all ya gotta do is begin pickin' thru yer potatoes, between yer teeth for the little bloody bones! Oh, how I LOVE that!

    I know, I know...fillet them. And I do ...but then I don't have anything to b-tch about ) *grins*

Please excuse the sarcasm here. No offense meant. I'll keep an occasional pike too because my family likes the damn things but me....that burger. Or a peanut butter sammich!

There has to be one in the bunch.

    Best to you all,

    Jeremy.

Bowhunter brings a new twist to this topic with his nominations for the Worst Tasting Fish. Here's my list.

    1. Carp (tried them everyway imaginable and they are still awful)
    2. Big Walleye (age really seems to make a difference)
    3. Big Largemouth (same as above, but the small ones are as excellent!)

I love eating fish but after experimenting with carp, I just don't clean anything else but harvestable fish in the trout, catfish, and sunfish families.
