Default Flies for Monomoy in late-June (Cape Cod)

Got invited to join some friends for a few days of Saltwater fly fishing at Monomoy (on Cape Cod) in late June ... anticipate Stripers, or, at least hope to see Stripers.
Never done this before so am cluless as to what patterns, sizes, colors etc. to use.
Would appreciate any and all advise.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Clousers, Deceivers are two good standards.

    Enjoy!

You are going to love it. A shrimp pattern purchased in a local shop won't hurt.

We have done very well with very, very sparsly tied Clousers in Olive with a touch of White. These resemble the Sand Lances that the fish love to eat. We tie them on #4 and #6 hooks with very small dumbell eyes for the shallow water flats (sight-fishing). We tie them around 3 - 3.5" long. Sparce is the key. Too much material and the fish will not come to the fly nearly as well.

Crab patterns have also worked very well for us [url=http://flyanglersonline.com/about/mustad/velcrocrab.html:50e39]http://flyanglersonline.com/about/mustad/velcrocrab.html[/url:50e39]
We have taken some real good fish on those crabs.

If fishing the deeper cuts with the tide ripping, standard Clousers in Chart/White, Olive/ WT, Blue/WT work well along with Deceivers. For this fishing. be sure you have some with a decent amount of weight added and a sinking line helps too.

    I'm sure you'll have fun.

Chec out one of my Prostaffer's website. He guides full time out there May through August as is the best of the best. He has some great tips on his site.

Doc is right. I meant to type crabs not shrimp. My bad - though I bet shrimp would do you fine as well.

All the above and surf candies.

There will be some blues about and it is worth spending some time just targetting them. They are lots of fun when you get them in the shallows. Need either 40lb shock or a wire trace to deal with their teeth though.

Just 56 days, 12 hours and 40 minutes and counting, until I arrive for the first of my two trips to the Cape this year.
