    What are croakers? I am picturing an amphibian in my head but I am pretty sure that isn't what you mean.

    they'll hit dead shrimp so maybe a shrimp pattern. i wonder if they make a croaker pattern fly. big specks around here are hitting the live croaker right now. surf is thick i hear. hmmm...

    I catch quite a few of them when I'm fishing the guts/cuts on the TX coast. Most of them have been caught on Chart/wht Clousers bounced slowly on the bottom

    Don't know about your side but on the Southern California coast we use small clouser type flies. Orange is a good color. Here's some ideas:
