Thread: "Fresh" Turkey Feathers

    Default "Fresh" Turkey Feathers

I am lucky to have a friend who loves turkey hunting. He had a great hunt last week and brought back some nice feathers for me to use. Is there anything I need to do to the feathers? Treat them with something or wash them? Thanks.

Place the feathers inside a sealed plastic bag along with a "Tick & Flea" collar. Store them in the garage, or other outside area, away from the living area.

Afterwards if the feathers need to be cleaned, soak the feathers in a basin with some mild soapy water. and lay them between two old bath towels to dry (on top of some newspaper to aborb the moisture). Place some weights on all corners of the towels.

Best to do the washing in small batches.
