Hi Rgary53,
Try some clouser minnows, they are easy to tie and you can mimmic all sorts of bait fish both salt and fresh water. All you need is buck tail, hooks, and barbell eyes. Look in the fly archives in 2003 on this site, they are also sometimes called deep minnows. There are a couple of patterns here. Good luck,

Another GRAND baitfish immi is a Lefty's Deceiver. There are some of those in the fly archives too. Our first choice is the unweighted deceiver. However, we have a partner who every so often make us realize that the jiggy action of the clouser sometimes necessary for the day.

Clouser flies are easy to tie and fish well. Replace the dumbell eyes with beadchain for shallow water.

I have a foundness for bendbacks also.

That said I also LOVE the Eatme fly. Scott Hamilton showed me this one, and I proceeded to catch some vary nice Dolphin and Bonito on them. Not to mention Bluefish, Mackeral, and Seatrout.

A old, very easy to tie and very effective fly is the Brook's Blonde.
They can be tied in many colors but the one I carry is like this;

Tail:.... white bucktail
Body;.... pearl mylar (christmas tinsle)
Wing:.... Olive over yellow bucktail

I also add a red throat in case anyone sees the thing and accuses me of using too simple of a fly.

You can use the material used in the Eatme fly as a springboard to a couple of other patterns. The material appears to be either Super Hair or Ultra Hair. You can use it to tie Surf Candies or Spread Flies. It can also be used to tie Clousers. Nice thing about the artificial hairs are they're just about indestructable which is a plus when fishing for toothy critters.
If you use it try blending it with either Polar Flash or Sparkle flash before tying.
One pack of flash to one pack of hair is a good ratio. The blending distributes the flash throughout the fly and makes it easier to taper.

If you want some easy, cheap and effective topwater flies try a Gartside Gurgler: http://www.warmwaterflyfisher.com/flymonth/FOTM102002.htm[/url:85326]
(I sub Estaz for the hackle if I want a little more flash).
Crease Fly is almost as easy: http://www.flyfishsaltwaters.com/Creasefly.htm[/url:85326]
