  1. Default steelhead flies...

    season greetings,

here are some popular rogue river steelhead patterns I've revised and embellished.

what we have here are variations of:

    copper johns

heavy metals - red and mixed

    rubber legged ugly buggers

and of course a few pheasant tailed nymphs

In some instances I've replaced the traditional brass or copper bead head with some miracle beads that were given to me.

I've found that the finish will chip off like many of the painted bead heads. however I've remedied that by coating the beads with sally's hard-as-nails.

    cheers!

Any Fly Angler that really wants to get into Steelhead fishing and tying, should have this book, "STEELHEAD Fly Fishing" by Trey Combs (Lyon Press)!

It has almost all the great steelhead fly patterns, but also the story of the great rivers and the anglers and their patterns.

It is a very good read, and helps you understand more fully the passion of the Steelhead Angler. ~Parnelli

I've updated my blog - steelhead flies - with a few more rubber legged patterns.
