    Default Lime Green Klinkhammer

In the waters I fish there lives a lime green cased caddis. I'm thinking of tying a lime green Klinkhammer style fly to mimic an emerger. I have never seen the live emerger of this caddis. Is it still bright green at the time it emerges or another color? Does it swim to the surface with it's case prior to emerging or is it naked when rising?

Just wondering if this type fly would match the hatch.

If the case is made of sticks & plant debris and is square in cross section you have an American Grannom, hatching early in the year. The pupa rising to the surface is a Grouse and Green wet fly, or a green LaFontaine Emergent Sparkle Pupa, so a mid-green KlinkH would probably work (no tail). The adult is olive with a brown wing, size 16. If the case is made of small pebbles you have a Dark Blue Sedge, and the pupa is dark blue/green/gray so a Hare's Mask & Starling wet fly would work, or a GRHE KlinkH (no tail). The adult is almost black, size 12. Purchase a copy of Hatch Guide to New England Streams by Thomas Ames Jr. and have all these questions answered ? worth much more than the $20 cost.

I've yet to match a hatch, having said that, Nothing ventured, Nothing gained,

I recently tyed some lime green klinkies. I have not had a chance to fish them as of yet, but the sure look attractive. I usually tye 4 or 5 flies to try and if they work well, tye some more. I tyed them for no particular match, just as another color of klinky to try. I figured lime green trubes seem to work why not klinkies?

My biggest fear when I die is that my wife will sell my fly fishing gear for what I told her I paid for it!
