I am surprised that no one has mentioned what a good fly a Thunder Creek streamer is. easy and wuick to tie. It is the first fly that I ever tied and caught a fish on, and I still have that one pinned to my hat. Besides a topwater popper of some sort, it is just about the only fly that I use for all of my warmwater fishing.

My guess as to why no one mentioned it would be that most folks are probably using traditional bucktails, Soup. I like Thunder Creeks and have a few but I have to say that I use traditional bucktails mostly rather than the Thunder Creek just because its traditional. Thunder Creeks can be tied in a variety of color combinations for traditional bucktails also. Seems like a Thunder Creek Black Nosed Dace would be pretty good (I have a few of these). Just white, black, brown bucktail with a little pearl Krystal Flash and a silver cord body or silver-embossed tinsel body .

A Thunder Creek Mickey Finn would be another one.

I thought this was a neat fly when it was published in the magazine. What I really like about the instructions is that the photography is very clean. It is very difficult to have the background be the same shade when photographing the various steps and this FOTW is very good in that way. Amazing what the professional do with the correct gear/cameras and lighting/studio set-up. Maybe most didn't even notice that small detail in the How To. Nice touch!

The pattern looks fishy too and I like flies with plastic heads and dome eyes like this one displays.

I was down in the "Archives", which is where I can normally be found, poking around looking at past articles....when I came across the "Emerald Shiner" in the "Just Old Flies and stuff...." section. I remembered this posting from a couple of weeks ago, in regards to the Thunder Creek Streamer. Thought you might like to look into this article.
