Thread: Building my own tying bench

Default Building my own tying bench

I've spent this weekend building my own bench. Figured this would be more fun and a lot cheaper than just buying one.

    Check out the pics! [url=http://www.lukemccoy.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album52&op=modload&name= gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php:b846d]http://www.lukemccoy.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album52&op=modload&name= gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php[/url:b846d]

I'm pretty much done. Just waiting for some things to dry and I'll be adding the magnetic strips and buttons, adding some foam to put flies on, and some hooks on the arm edges to hang things from. Then all that's left is to burn my names into the corner!

    Luke,

    Man, that sure is pretty.

I use an old surveyed out from an eletronics firm 8' workbench with shelves built behind it from 1/2 scrap plywood .

    STILL need more room...

    Good Luck!

Thanks! I can't wait to have it completed tomorrow and ready to actually use. And I've already thought of bigger ideas. I really had fun doing all the woodwork myself so my next project will be to build an actual desk and I'm thinking of making some kind of docking station for it, an idea I got from my computer docking station.

This way I can just slide and lock this thing in it and take it out if I want to bring it with me somewhere. And of course the desk I'd try to build draws and shelves and all that good stuff. But of course, this is just an idea for now.

By the way, if you want to see how much it cost, under $50, and all the materials, I've listed them on my site as well.

Nice looking work. You might take a look at TurboCad. Inexpensive, but pretty darn powerful, especially for smaller projects.
