Thread: Sunday the 20th, 1st Day of SPRING!

  1. #1

Default Sunday the 20th, 1st Day of SPRING!

What are you doing to celebrate the 1st day of Spring?

Unfortunately it is a 'work day' here, but if it wasn't, I'd pack a picnic lunch (suitable to eat in the car if necessary) and go scouting to a favorite fishing spot. The operative word is 'scouting' don't need to fish, just check everything out. An opportunity to see what has changed over the winter, and make some plans for the first actual fishing trip.

Might be good for the wife/family to see where you love to go if they don't know. Could turn out to be a very positive "field trip".

Don't let the day go by without doing something!

Well, around here today was what the first day of Spring should be. 50 degrees and sunny, but tomorrow cold and rain with possible wet snow. The best thing of all the Winter of 04 will be history tomorrow. I hope so, as I do remember us getting 21" of snow back in 1981 on March 21st.

Thank God I made it through the winter. Last fall, as the winter was approaching, I dreaded working in the snow and nasty weather. I was looking forward to retirement "just on more winter". Now I have 4 days left...Thursday its all over. I have my lovely wife Nancy to thank for her financial planing. She made it all possible.

Way to go Buzz, and a cyber hug to Nancy whose planning made it possible.
May you both enjoy the best life has to
offer for a long, long time to come.

Tomorrow will be our annual fishing seminar and I will be doing the stream reading portion, done usually by someone who really knows what he is talking about. (he's fishing somewhere in the world but only he knows where)I'll wing it and along with his notes I'll muddle through.
I can always call on the audience to help me out over the tough parts! There's always some 9 year old kid that knows all there is to know...and if he doesn't his father sure as heck does.

I plan to conserve every ounce of patience I have tonight and then tomorrow teach my six-year-old how to cast for the first time. Can't wait!!!

LF, I'll be going to that symposium snipe mentioned. Since I know absolutely nothing about reading a stream, I figure he'll sound like a genius.

I'm bringing along a 15 year old guy who has fished with me but has never fly fished and he's fascinated with the whole thing already. He's already tied a fly and can't wait to get there tomorrow to try some more.

With any luck, one of these guys will show me how to cast longer than 20 feet and the kid will have a good time.

    happy spring!

First I'm going to shovel the snow that fell during the night (again).

Then I'm going to pack up some things so later in the week I can head to Washington where you folks are nice and warm. Really.
