    Default adjusting renzetti traveler tension

    Hi All,
I have been noticing lately with mw traveler that the vise seems to bind when rotating it.
The binding is inside the head because I can disassemble the tension part (2 brass thumbnuts) and it still stays bound up once there. I notice if I set the tension to allow it to basically freespin and use the little plastic screw to apply tension it seems to work ok. This leads me to the real question, how tight should I be setting the rotary tension using the brass thumbscrews.
    Thanks JohnP

What's up with all these problems recently with the Renzettis?

    JohnP:

Use the brass knobs to get the vise to rotate smoothly with just a slight amount of tension and lock it in. Then fine tune the adjustment with the nylon tension adjustment screw.

That's what I do and I never have to do anything unless I want more tension.

    Bamboozle,
Thanks thats what I will do. Riverdance it may not be a vise problem just a user problem, probably trying to put too much tension on. I must admit I have had to take it apart a couple times to change out the bent shaft/jaws so its probably me getting used to readjusting it. I have heard of others having jaw problems. I have midge cam jaws and sw cam jaws and have no problem with them.

    Thanks Again, JohnP

I've seen my traveler get tight in the head twice now. I had to use a hammer to dis-assemble it once.

If you take it apart, clean it throughly and relube it, it will be smooth as silk again.

    John
Call Renzetti there # is 321 267 7705 ask to speak with Matt.
My traveler is 1 year old and has locked up 3 times. Matt sent a new rotary head to fix the problem. I used the exact silcone greese he told me to use to put it back together with.
Let us know how it turns out.
