Default Finish coat, wraps, and Ledging Problem

I'm finishing my first fly rod. So far, it looks OK; however, on some of the wraps, there is a "ledge" from the edge of the wrap down to the rod. I am using Flex Coat Lite.

How can this be avoided as I am trying to have a seamless transition from the rod to the wrap.

Would it help to first just apply a small amount of the flex coat in this ledge area - and letting it dry -- before wrapping the entire wrap?

Can anything be done to do away with the ledge that I now have?

Would like to hear what others are doing.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'ledge'. If you mean you can see and feel a sharp 'ridge'? Are you letting any flexcoat go from the wrap directly on the blank?
I generally let it go 1/16" at the very most extend unto the blank. Just move the brush over enough to do this, something to brace your hand on helps keep an even line. I feel this 'locks' the thread in better and makes a smooth transition from one to another.

    What a stupid question.

If what I think you refer to a ledge is what I think it means. After applying your epoxy to the wrap you can either cant your brush at a 45deg angle or use a popsicle stick and do the same. This will make a smooth transistion to the blank.
