    Default Baby Bluegill pattern

As the bass go deeper in warmer weather, I like to switch to small jigs to get down to reach them. These baby Bluegill jigs work well for me. They are easy to cast and get down quickly, but I can also use them with a quick 6-inch retrieve to get an erratic swimming motion similar to a Clouser minnow pattern. They are tied with dyed Arctic Fox fur on a size 6 90-degree jig hook with 5/32" offset tungsten beads. The bead fits perfectly on the 90-degree bend which causes the pattern to ride in the hook-up position and results in a nose-down position when at rest, much like a small Bluegill feeding off the bottom. https://gifyu.com/image/SuAjy

Thanks Rick. Like you, I enjoy sitting at the vise and simply seeing what comes out. I've tied a number of small jig patterns in both leeches as well and small baitfish and they all seem to produce pretty well for me.
