    Default Shakey Bealy (Variant)







    Subbed sharptail for ruffed grouse since I have none of the latter; I’d be surprised if it makes a difference. A pretty basic pattern; I much prefer the Ice Dub thorax over the original Krystal Flash collar; here’s a nice video if you’re interested.

    hook - WFC Model 6 #10
    thread - Danville 6/0 tobacco brown
    tail - barred woodduck
    rib - tying thread
    body - dubbing amber
    thorax - Ice Dub orange (loop dubbed)
    shoulder - sharptail grouse

    Muddled Shakey Bealy Emerger







    For those fortunate enough to witness an emergence, the Shakeys bursting fully-formed thru the water’s surface, it’s a sight they won’t soon forget.

    hook - WFC Model 11 #12
    thread - Danville 6/0 tobacco brown
    tail - barred woodduck
    rib - tying thread
    body - dubbing amber
    thorax - Ice Dub orange (loop dubbed)
    shoulder - sharptail grouse
    head/collar - pronghorn dyed golden olive (4 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 1/2 Tsp Rit Camel/4 cups water)
