Default Deer Hair Body Muddler SBS

Similar to the Michigan-body style but a bit simpler.

    hook - WFC Model 6 #8
    thread - Danville 6/0 brown
    tail - deer hair
    rib - tying thread
    body/thorax - deer hair
    shoulder - hen grizzly
    head/collar - deer hair

    Part 1

Mash barb; start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to bend

Clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of deer hair

Tie in with 2 soft loops on top of shank, pull tight, maintain pinch to keep hair from spinning; take a few wraps through butts, locking hair in place

Return thread to 2/3 mark, pull butts forward and tie down

Pull tight, flaring butts; spiral wrap to tail, and back

    Part 2

    Trim butts

Tie in (folded) hackle by tip in front of thorax; wrap, tie off/trim

Clean, stack, measure (tips to bend here, but length is entirely up to you)

Tie in with 2 soft loops, trim butts even with hook eye, spin

Half hitch x 2, SHHAN, trim head to desired shape (Ryan Houston style used here)

    Regards,
    Scott

Very nice! That may be more effective than the turkey wing muddler.

Very good illustration on this fly. However, I must add, how do you ever have time to fish with all the meticulous tying do show us?
