    Default A couple of dragonflies

Just finished up a IFF Zoom fly tying class. The last pattern in it was a foam dragonfly. I did a bit of research on dragonflies and found out that the large ones we see flitting around bodies of water average about 3 inches in length and have a 3 inch wing span. So these are full size. Definitely an 8 wgt fly. Changed up a couple of things from what was taught. Didn't wrap any hackle around the thorax and rather than a single wing I split the wing to give it a better profile when floating in the water. I have seen dragonflies in three of the four colors.
