I am surprised that nobody has mentioned Forecast blanks. What a bargain for the price. I built a 7'6" 4 pc. 4 wt rod for $68 which included shipping. It's one of my favorite rods to fish. Check them out, I think H&H has them..

    Mr. Guts,

Unfortunately I didn't see Neal's Fishing as a sponsor here. But.....if you go to nealsfishingtackle.com there is his phone number. Call him. He has some blanks for 99 cents. These would be good to practice on, expierment with thread colors, epoxying, etc. Probably even good enough to fish with. He has a large inventory of blanks.

I have heard that Global Dorber has cheap blanks, but I have no experience with them.

Utmost enterprises is Batson's outlet. They have some great closeouts on RX7, RX8 and the old 2003 Forecast line. I have an RX8 6'6" 2 weight that is simply amazing, as well as RX7 and Forecast rods. I have to second Satchel's comment. I've built a few of the Forecast 7'6" and 8' 4 weight rods in both 4 and 5 pieces, and they are some of my favorites to cast. A great way to start rodbuilding, especially if you are on a budget.

If you can get a Dancraft 5 Rivers for under 100 get it!
My 8'6-6wt has been my goto rod for four years now.
Craft also had some good deals on Forecast.
I made a 7wt 9'. Very nice. Versatile (I can no longer spell....)
I can push large heavy streamers of little drys on that one. Just the right amount of flex.
    It's.....Just....A.....Stick...!!
