Pretty sure I had at least one vendor say they they've been waiting for orders they put in last January, so the shortage has been going on even longer than you would think. Dan Bailey's is the US rep for Dai Riki, and they have no ETA for new orders. Lots of shops seem to be dropping them as a result of the shortage.

Dai Riki makes some of my favorite hooks, and at least one style of which would not easily be replaced by the numerous generic no-name brands out there. Hopefully they will be back before my stock runs out, but the amount of business they are losing as a result of this shortage must be significant.

From what I've heard Bailey is retiring and closing shop. I believe his web site is down also.

It was a month ago when I checked. Shops seem to be ditching the hooks, something is up.

Another satisfied customer of Wholesale Fly Company. I've bought A LOT of their hooks over the past couple of years. Just ordered a couple packs this week; they aren't even charging for Shipping right now. If you order direct from them, it's $7.00/100 pack.

Edited to add: Right after I posted this, my landlord hollered at me. Mail call, and my hooks arrived. I usually get hooks from them in 2 - 3 days. They're in Pennsylvania, and I'm in south-central MI.

I have found a very nice brand of hooks in "Saber Hooks" at Fly Shack.com. I was more than pleased with the first rate quality of their hooks. The price is unbeatable.

Emailed the Dai-Riki company two weeks ago. Have not heard anything back.
