I agree. If you keep attracting and feeding them it won't be long until they figure out there's more and better food inside your house. Happens all to often up here by me. People think they're so cute until they rip a window out, climb in the house and tear it to shreds looking for more to eat. Then unfortunately, for the bear that is, it has to be destroyed. Bears are not pets, do them a big favor and let them feed and fend for themselves.
It was just a joke that it was a pet bear. That bear has already moved on. In 15 yrs that was only the 2nd bear.

Hey Stream ~ one of my favorite places to camp & fish in Western NC, just west of Franklin, is the Standing Indian Campground with the Nantahala River running right through the C/G. As I understand, just over the ridge from Standing Indian is a bear preserve .... "no hunting". Albeit one of my favorite C/G's, having bear visitors after dark was not that uncommon. The last time I talked with one of the Nat'l Forrest people the bad news was they were no longer re-locating nuisance bears but rather "doing them in". Sort of reminded me of a sign I saw at the airport in Juneau, Alaska, to keep tourist from the idea of feeding bears .... "A fed bear is a dead bear".
Stream,
Did you happen to 'borrow' any bear hair for tying?
