    Default Royal Prince Nemo SBS




    A little free time and a lot of coffee.

    hook - Mustad 3906B #10
    thread - Danville 6/0 red
    underbody - .020 non-tox
    tail - biots brown
    rib - small wire gold
    counterrib - peacock herl
    abdomen - holo tinsel red
    thorax - peacock herl
    hackle - hen furnace
    legs/feelers/wings/whatever - biots white
    head - Sulky Holoshimmer red


    Part 1

    mash barb, wrap front 1/3 of shank with non-tox; start thread, wrap to bend




    measure (gap width past bend) a pair of biots; tie in on either side of hook, add rib






    tie in 1 peacock herl by tip




    tie in tinsel at 2/3 mark; wrap to tail and back, tie off/trim






    counterrib peacock herl; tie off/trim




    rib with wire; helicopter end, cover with thread




    measure (hook point to eye) a pair of biots

    Part 2

    tie in with tips over the eye




    tie in peacock herl by tips; wrap thorax, tie off/trim






    tie in Holoshimmer over eye




    tie in (folded) hackle by tip; wrap, tie off/trim






    fold biots back, whip finish/trim thread (not shown)




    brush head with Super Glue, wrap Holoshimmer, wait for the glue to dry and trim

    Thanks for showing the technique for tying in the biots at the head. I would not have thought of that.

    Scott, with regards to glueing the holoshimmer for the head: Would it be easier to forego the glue, put the holoshimmer into a set of hackle pliars, wrap the head, and with the pliars acting as a plumb bob, coat with some UV resin, hit it with a torch, then trim the holoshimmer?

    Allen,

    If you have those materials, that would produce a good result. I don't, so the Super Glue will have to suffice; only had to wait about 5 seconds for it to set, so no big deal.
