    Default Wide Bobbin

I have a Coats & Clark spool of clear mono thread that is 1 3/4 inches wide. Most tying thread spools are about 1 1/4inches. Do they make bobbins that are wider than regular? I'd really like to put the spool of mono to use.

Yes they do . I have a Coats & Clark 2 inch spool mounted in one right now. Not sure but I think I got it at Sportsman's Warehouse. Sorry ...don't remember the brand but very inexpensive.

Is it the Griffin Magnum? I looked at the Warehouse, but I'm not sure which one it is. Would you check yours for me? Thanks.

Not a Griffin...some off brand...no writing on it ...obviously large and the ends are ball shaped

If you have a drill and an old empty regular size spool you could easily transfer most of the thread over to it. Attach the empty spool to a long bolt, chuck it in the drill, and slowly spin the thread over onto it.

If I can't get a bobbin to fit I'll give it a try.

It's your second link...pretty certain the first link would be the same size.

Pricey, but Marc Pettijean's bobbin holder adjusts to different sized bobbins.
You might look to see if it gets that wide.
