Fly fishing the Carmans river in Long Island

My sister-in-law and her family have moved to Long Island. Doing some online research on freshwater fly fishing opportunities keep pointing to the Carmans river as being a good place to go. We plan to be there for a few days in early August. Does anyone have information on what to expect? Is it going to be too hot at that time? Any information on fishing this river would be great.

I haven't fished it personally, but I know people who have. From what I understand, it's spring-fed and should be fishable all summer. You might take a look at this:

I moved off of LI 25 years ago. Check out the Connetquot River too. It is a spring fed stream that is stocked by NY State. Every once in a while someone fishing the Carmens or Connetquot will hook a sea-run Brook trout. The Connetquot is controlled by the state and it is fee fishing with a beat assigned to you!
