    Default Brood VI Cicadas

A few days in the 90's last week brought these guys out in northern VA. This emergence is supposedly concentrated in NC, SC and GA; we're not getting the numbers we saw in 2004 but it's been respectable. Birds are certainly enjoying the protein infusion; hopefully the fish will respond, too.

Since you mentioned finding the Cicada in northern VA., I checked the Ausable river in front of my house with a sein and found two huge Cicada nymphs. These were the first I have caught in a sein, so they are here as well. However, still a little cool for an emergence.
