Up in Canada I used to watch Red Fisher every Saturday. Not much fly fishing, but Lordie, that was one heck of a show. One of his top guests was none other than Allan Hale, of Gilligan's Island fame. "Gilligan my little Buddy!" They'd sit around the big fir table at Scuttlebutt Lodge, swapping fish tales. Those were fine times. Did you get that one south of the border?

Still watch Red Green. (especially the 'fly tying' monologues) "I'm pullin' for ya. Remember, we're all in this together."

    Dear LetsGet,

I always enjoyed Jerry McKinnis and the "Fishin' Hole.". I know he didn't do a whole lot of fly fishing, but he always seemed like a right nice guy to me.

    Best Wishes,

I always liked to watch Curt Gowdy's outdoor programs. He was one of a kind.

    Marty Stouffer's Wild America.

It awoke the conservationist in me.

And second the "Fishin Hole" comment about Jerry McKinnis. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a fishing expo as a kid and he was a shining example of what "celebs" can be.

As young boy, watching Saturday baseball on a black and white TV, listening to Pee Wee Reese calling the game and Dizzy Dean spending the entire game babbling on about fishing in the south and how mnany hush puppies he had for dinner. Gosh, i miss those games.

Here's another vote for Jerry McKinnis & "Fishin' Hole". I still watch it when I remember it's on. That show really helped to peak my interest in fishing as a kid.

I still have the Eagle Claw Trailmaster rod he "convinced" me to buy.

    Hi Fishical,

I believe that my favorite was a local show in Connecticut. It use to come on right before the Mickey Mouse Club (or the Annette show as we use to call it) It was called Brace Gilson's Outdoor Club and it featured camping, fishing and general outdoor activity. Great show---never missed it. I believe it was on for a couple of years around 1957. 8T

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it's a real short camping season.

Living in Canada, I used to watch him also. Scuttlebutt Lodge was the place to be on Saturday mornings.
