Default Henry's Lake Caddis (variation) SBS

Putting maodiver's gift into action. Original had a dubbed head, aftershaft gives a different look; your choice.

hook - TMC 200R #10 (I know; but they look so nice)
    thread - Danville 6/0 brown
    tail/body - woodduck flank
underbody - Ice Dub hare's ear
    hackle - partridge
head - pheasant aftershaft dyed brown

    Part 1

mash barb, start thread; leave tag end long and wrap to point above point

dub thread/dub body to 3/4 mark

prep a woodduck feather (fibers about 1.5 times hook length); tie in by tip

stroke fibers back and wrap; tie off/trim

gather fibers at the rear, take a single wrap with the tag end of thread, push the fibers towards a bit; take a few more wraps to secure, whip, trim thread, SHHAN

    create thread loop

stroke fibers back and wrap; tie off/trim

finish wrapping aftershaft; tie off/trim, whip, SHHAN

Another good one for these is the bird's nest:

Treat it with dry shake floatant and sink it.

    Scott,

How many times can we tell you that it is yet another great SBS of an interesting fly and thank you before that goes stale. You keep giving us different techniques and different flies but we have only a limited number of responses to thank you.

    Thanks,
    Ed

    Ed,

Thank you for the kind words. This is a good forum for sharing ideas and I'm glad to see more folks participating; hope that continues, it'll make us all better tyers.
