Check the sewing department at Walmart, Joanne's, Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc., buy the small amount they will sell you. How fuzzy is fuzzy foam, how about some flannel with some goop on the back side?

For a crawfish back, I would think a thick hank of poly yarn would be a reasonable substitute.
Brain flash-I just remembered I saw some furry foam glued to a piece of thin foam punched as a salmon fly body. Would a piece of furry foam glued to a very thin piece of foam or plastic last longer?
