    Default Pink Pookie Hoppers

A couple days ago, I was browsing around on youtube, and saw a video for the ?Pink Pookie? foam hopper, from InTheRiffle. Once I watched it, I knew I would have to tie a few up. I've been looking for a ?bulkier? foam hopper pattern.

It does take a little longer to tie the pattern than the GFA Hoppers I've been tying. However, I am pleased with the results. Now I just need to get them wet.

I did make a couple changes to the pattern. I used a 3xl size 10 hook instead of the hook listed in the video. Also, I don't have any of the barred rubber legs that the video had; I just used something close that I had on hand.

    Allen,

Here's the origins of the Pink Pookie (SBS is pretty far down the page; some other nice flies, as well) if you're interested

Scott, thanks for that! I had no idea of the origin of the fly, or the reason for the name.

dpenrod - I thought of both of those color combos as well. Being from Oklahoma, the green over yellow would really match the "big yellow hoppers" that are everywhere this time of year. Brown over would probably be good later in the Fall in Oklahoma, and probably will be good here in Michigan right now.

I need to find some grey craft foam. I could do a brown over grey version. I might even have to do a brown over orange version, just to try out.
