Default Size Popper for Smallmouth Bass?

I'm going to tie up some popper for smallmouth bass. What size would recommend and would the same popper work on largemouth bass? I was thinking a size 6 might be okay. I'll be fishing rivers for smallmouths and a lake for largemouths, if that makes a difference.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

For hooks, I use the Allen B200 and Tiemco 8089. A size 8 of these hooks, for example, is MUCH MUCH bigger than a standard size 8 nymph/streamer hook. So, bear that in mind.
I've been tying Blockhead Poppers for both Largemouth and Smallmouth using a size 8 of these hooks. Seems about perfect for both. You can certainly bump up to a size 6 for Largemouth.

A #4 Gama Stinger covers most all of my bass poppers and sliders.
