    Default First Smallie on-the-fly!

Stopped off at a lake about a mile from my home. I wanted to see if any Hexes would be coming off. I figured on casting a Gurgle-Pop with a Hex nymph on a drop below the GP. Then, when the Hexes showed, I'd switch over to something else. After about 15 minutes of blind casting, I got a hit on the Gurgle-Pop. Set the hook into a nice little Smallie:

About 5 minutes later, something else took a swipe at my Gurgle-Pop, but didn't take it. That was it.

I decided to call it and head home. As I was wading back, I think I saw a Hex flying by. Figures.....

Got rewarded with a nice sunset:

I've been catching them all Spring with spinning gear. I need to leave that at home and just take some fly rods out....
