Building that two weight was one of the best moves I ever made.

1. The price was right. The kit was under $80. The reel was $14. The line was... well, the line was $35.

2. a 12" bass will put up a good fight



3. Exotics will put a nice bend in the rod



4. Decent sized bluegill will gain a whole new respect.



Put that 5wt. down. Get yourself a 2. Come see why the eyes of those guys twinkle when the subject of bluegill is mentioned.

I have a 1 wt and a 2 wt and they are both a blast to fish. Melk, a 2 wt would be perfect for fishing for Brookies in the small streams you have in your neck of the woods.

I built a 2 WT 6'6"from a Sevier tiger eye blank. It was a Christmas gift for my fishing buddy Mike. I liked it so much I built myself a 2 WT 7' from a blank I bought on ebay. They are a blast to chase eastern CA stockers in small creeks.

What size flies, tippet length & X ? Sort of limit to around size #16 or smaller unless using the old chuck & duck cast since the #2 weight is more of a finesse rod.

I use five feet of 20lb seaguar, 2.5' 15lb. seaguar, then 10# fluoro tippet. Size 10 bh wooly buggers. Ain't no finessing here!
