I am privileged enough to be able to say I'll be fly fishing the Big Blackfoot next weekend. I do believe I'll also be dipping into the Missouri as well. Any tips?

Check Headhunters blog for up-to-date info on the Mo. Lots of access below the dam but you will have company; luckily, for the most part, the flotilla gives waders their space (can't always say that about other folks on foot, though). If your fishing dries and you don't have a good slack-line/reach cast, you should work on it - the fish don't care much for drag.

Missdavidson,
Also, the fish on the Missouri tend to like small flies. Size 16 is a big one, size 18 is the normal. Here is also where you can do a dry/dropper or a double dry, but as indicated in another thread, there can be problems casting with that rig. A lot of people wade fish on the south side of the river at various places above Craig. There are some wade areas below Craig, but they are fewer. Watch out for rattle snakes, there are a few of them around and this is a ticky year so wear waders and check for ticks often if you walk through the brush or tall grass. Oh yea, have fun!!!!!

I was there two years ago this time. We stayed at the Campground below the dam and the fishing was good. It was HOT<HOT everyday, the morning fishing was good with small Griffiths Gnats, 18's and 20's were the norm. I have never seen so many Trico's on the water at one time.
We stayed on the Blackfoot a few years back at Lincoln and hit the hatch of those big white spruce
moths - nice to fish with something you can see. I think it's a little early for them, though. You might try a size 12 white EHC, though.
I will say i had the most marvelous time ever! Saw beautiful sights, met amazing people, and even did a little fishing!
