    Default Fighting Gills

Another good day flyfishing for bluegills at Shadow Lake. Jaaron01 & I fished a cove with weeds, rocks, and for me, sinking knee deep mud. What worked for me was casting to weed edges & little pockets, and allowing a Bully's Bluegill Spider to parachute down slowly. Black was the color for the day. Some of the takes were when the fly was parachuting down. Another retrieve that worked was 1/2" strips with a pause mixed in. We caught a few gills with raw sides, probably from the males fighting over prime nesting spots. We were looking for swirls & air bubbles. A couple of bass liked the spider also. Tight lines!
