Default Thinking about a floatation device...

or whatever you call it. Not sure how much I'd actually use it, but I would like to have one around "just in case". I'm thinking about something like this from Cabela's (sorry about the tiny image; just the way it copied)...

    Any suggestions/experience/opinions, et al? Thanks...

If I can't carry it to the water with one hand, I'm not interested in it.

I do love my float tube, though.

Creek company always has good winter deals on pontoons and float tubes. I've used their products for years.
Be sure to get a PFD with whatever you get.

My current flotation device is 40'... about right... except for the 18' jet boat... or the other devices hanging around the yard. I like keeping my butt outta the water!

I had a pontoon, which I like a lot but sold it to get a Nucanoe, which I like but have not used as much as I would have like. I thought the Nucanoe would give me better access to going upstream on the Hooch here in the burbs of Atlanta. I have fallen out of the Nucanoe (didn't turn it over, fell out), never got wet in the pontoon. I also have a couple of float tubes, which I used more than the pontoon because they are easier to move from vehicle to water. It depends on where you are going to fish and other factors, trolling motors, fishing buddies, etc

The nucanoe is cool but not as portable as I want; I like the portability of a float tube but not the operating system (legs and fins). I probably won't be packing it all that far; the pontoon seems like a reasonable compromise.

I use a pontoon for small lakes. With a set of fins it fishes great because it keeps your hands free for casting and you can position it easily. Also use a yak, for bigger lakes and rivers. Also looking forward to having access to a small Whaler when I make it Fl. A man can't have enough watercraft. Pontoons just are handy ,imo.

Well, since nobody talked me out of it I popped for it today; hundred bucks off on sale, plus a Christmas gift card from my granddaughter, plus some points; couldn't turn it down. Probably won't even assemble it for a few weeks; we'll see how it goes. The wife, looking over my shoulder, thought a canoe would be cool, so I may have multiple choices in watercraft soon!
