    I
am posting these videos here not to show off my fly casting skills but to show you how I understand fly casting. I have come to this website many years ago, starting around 1995. At that time, James Castwell was here. He and others helped me understand fly casting. We talked in chatroom every night. I learned fly casting since then. In these videos, I hope to show that fly casting, especially double hauling, is not that difficult. It only takes practice and learn to control the line, especially the tension of the line. As long as one can control the tension of the line, the line won't collapse, even though one is casting the rod to the 3:00 o'clock position. And anyone can cast the line to any direction as long as he/she knows how to control the line (tension).

great videos and smooth casting- just one question int he first video you'er double hauling like 25' of line, I know it was for demo purposes but seems like a lot of effort for such short casts. I really like your technique on the single handed spey to over hand cast .

    thank you

Thanks for your comment. Are you talking about the trip cast? I wish I had a dark background to show what I was doing. The line in the trick cast is not going out straight but in multiple circles. What I did was to make the rod produce those circles. It is rather difficult to do because the line could easy hit itself. Those who also tried to do this have casted out the line after each round of making circles. I did not cast out the line. That adds difficulty to the whole thing because I can mess up the line when I get it to the next round of circles. If you can turn your screen background lighter, you may be able to see those circles I made.
