The Mohair Leech is as much a staple in my box as the Wooly Bugger and Hare's Ear. A true cross-over pattern that fishes great on both Warm and Cold water species as well as still-water and streams. I have not met a fish yet that won't eat it. Here are my favorite variations. Adjust the colors to suit your particular water.

If the only food I had to eat was the fish I caught, and I was forced to select only one fly to fish with, it would be a black mohair leech. I have caught all manner of warm and coldwater species on this fly and it is by far my most productive pattern. The only difference I made to this pattern from what NJTroutbum shows is that I swapped out rabbit fur for the tail because it is much more durable than marabou. It may loose a bit of action in the water, but the fish don't seem to mind and I fish them until I can see the hook shank before I retire them to be retied at the bench. An absolute must have pattern in every freshwater fly box.
