Hi Folks,

Some years back we were taking a barge
load of refinery gear up the Mississippi to
Ohio when one evening we were innundated by
grey hex's. Couldn't open your eyes or
mouth on deck.*G* Amazing! We put the bow
of the barge on the bank and waited several

Dear Bob,

They routinely close the Market Street bridge in Wilkes-Barre during the whitefly hatch because the smashed flies coat the bridge deck and make driving difficult.

I think they wind up hosing the bridge deck off with firetrucks.

Having gone to school in Wilkes-Barre, I can vouch for the white fly hatch. Unfortunately, the fishing wasn't any good on the Susquehanna when I was there.
