    Default Need streamer Pattern

I was fishing yesterday and saw a kid tossing a shallow diving perch-colored plug after trout. Wow, you should have seen hog browns that attacked it.
So, I'm looking to tie a streamer about 3 or 4 inches long that will push water and fool some big browns.
I would appreciate suggestions since the extent of my streamer tying is woollybuggers.
    Thanks

    Bruce,

Something like AlanB's Fire Tiger Zonker should work

    http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/s...e-Tiger-Zonker

You could also tie an EP Baitfish in perch colors.

    Regards,
    Scott

Checkout this Kelly Galloup video. He's nymphing, catches a small cutty, and the cutty is attacked by a brown. He switches to a minnow streamer and catches the brown. Pretty cool.

What's wrong with a perch colored unweighted woolly bugger? You can tie it articulated to get the length you want. Zonker strip flies like ScottP suggested are very popular too, just a pain to throw with lighter rods. There are endless streamer patterns out there, both historical patterns as well as the new articulated stuff that has cropped up since Galloup reintroduced the importance of large baitfish patterns to freshwater fly fishing. If you have not found it already, check on Brian Wise's Fly Fishing the Ozarks channel on youtube.com for inspiration. Will keep you out of trouble for quite some time.

If you want some diving action and water pushing, I'd start with the Dahlberg Diver concept. You can modify materials and colors to suit your preferences (or the prey). Google it and you'll see plenty of variations.

    Default Thanks For The Help

I was sort of creating one just now and it took me 90 minutes. Of course, much of that time was spent looking for materials. I had trouble finding my .015 bead wire. It looks kind of drab to me. Can I post a picture from my cell phone?
