Default carp on a dry fly

    R
ecently I have been losing more carp than I hook or a complete refusal of my deer hair flies.
I think my tippet material needs to be replaced. What I did to make my deer hair more appealing to carp is to tie a mono non slip knot to my fly. The deer hair has movement since it is not held still by a cinch not .

Yeah, it could get a lot better. If the darn would just jump when you hook them. They'll jump all over, and sometimes scare the hell out of you when they do it right behind you, but you're lucky if you get anymore then a swirl out of them when hooked. Had a friend who timed it every year on Boone Reservoir in TN and banged heck out of them on flies but again, he'd never seen one jump on the hook. I even had a lake trout jump clean of the water when hooked once and also had a catfish fly out of the water once. So maybe that once each out of probably hundreds caught but never even one carp jumping I've ever heard of.

Nice catch though and I need to go down to the pond to see if there is any rubber lips sticking out of the water.
