Default Further word on the Catskills

Incredible. Much damage and devastation. Rivers have never been higher and done as much damage to both towns Livingston Manor and Roscoe. All businesses suffered damage from filled basements to water through stores and loss of inventory and structure damage.

Twin Island camp ground is devastated with water pushing mobile homes and trailers like dominoes. Beaverkill Campsite is no longer. Roscoe Motel is destroyed. Antrim lodge which was to open late this summer/early fall sustained major damage for third time, might not make it this time. Livingston Manor-Water broke basement windows in Frank Kutners home and fly shop filling basement until it ran out other side and his shop was completely soaked and most of floor has to be replaced. Richard Bradley new fly shop lost most of the merchandise and damaged all motors on machining equipment. Mary Dette fly shop basement was flooded. Jorgensens house, water flooded basement to seep into first floor and river went from front to back tearing off back porch and moving it downstream about a half mile and shed in back was moved 100 feet away until resting on gravel mound in front of old Bob's house.
Roads are washed away, erosion on sides of roads have collapsed roads and undercut most. If you go off the sides you'll roll over in many places. Houses have been moved, destroyed, and one 14 year old girl fell into river when house collapsed and body yet to be recovered. (Recovered later during day).

This link will give you a few photos of Roscoe, Livingston Manor, Delaware, and other areas.

Allan:...No , haven't heard from Mark nor seen him. No email back yet neither.

FlyTime, Big 17 seems okay where I have seen it.

Drove through both Roscoe and Livingston Manner today via the local roads. They are getting things together, but lots of damage as previously described. I was amazed that both towns are operational and the people are as nice and hospitable as ever. Some areas I used to park along the creeks are gone. Other parking areas filled with rock and trees. I fished a little in the Willow and in the Mongaup. Caught a few nice Browns and some little Brookies. Lots of damage to the stream banks. Stream improvements that were previous installed on the Mongaup were moved around like match sticks. That flood water had to have been a very scary sight to see.
