Questions/Concerns About Harvey Leader Formulas

For years I tied a 3-stage Maxima Chameleon tippet for most all of my nymphing, (18"-10#, 30" - 6#, Micro swivel to 36" - 2#). I still use Chameleon for my bass poppers. The stuff is tough.

So...10lb. is your butt section of 18 inches? Added to that 30" more of 6 lb. to which your tippet ring is attached? Is that a trout leader?

Yes. Just a short nymph leader. Works well when your tightline dredging with shot.

Ralph, so you use 36" of 2 lb. test as your tippet? that's about 6x. Is that light for trout fishing or am I not understanding? When I'm fishing nymphs I fish with 4x or 5x.

Yes sir....it is light, but works well with the chameleon. I use 6x Maxknot for most of my trout fishing normally, even with a furled leader. I really only go to 5x with streamers and heavy setups.

Then:
