Default Help with Pflueger Medalist 1492 CJ reel

I have one of the Japanese-made ones. Can the reel be changed to left hand retrieve? There are two click and pawl units; right now the one on the foot side has one of the long points toward the spindle; the other long point is to the right away from what looks like a stop pin and the short point is to the left with the spring resting on the area between them. The other unit has the short point toward the spindle with the spring resting on the area between the two long points. I am totally unfamiliar with this arrangement; thanks for any help!

    Oops
I just realized that it was 1492 that you were asking about
The short answer is no, they can't be switched to left hand wind
The long answer is that they can but when I read about it, it sounded way more involved than it was worth.
You could ask over on the fiberglass forum if it's that important to you. I think that's where I saw it.
I have a 1492 myself and just deal with it as-is

Yeah; I came to the same conclusions.

Actually, if you want a left hand wind on a 1492 it can be done. I've done it on a couple but it was years ago. Unlike the video I took the line guard off, moved one of the other spacers to one of the spots, put the line guide into the open spot on the other side of reel, then drilled a small hole and countersink for other spacer for line guide. Was it a lot of work? Sure, but I wanted it as a LHW and made it that way. Had it for years, finally sold it and wish I hadn't.
