I guess I don't understand. If the guy is sending PM's, what does changing one's password do?

Some members have passwords that are easy for hacking programs to crack. Such as there user name, dictionary words. ect. There has also been a number of members whose accounts have been tried to be accessed as well. This was the main reason that some changed there passwords.
So, it was advised because of hacking attempts, NOT, simply having received a PM......
I received a notice in my email that someone had attempted unsuccessfully 5 times to access my FAOL account. That tell me, he tried and was not able to do so.

correct. i sent emails to 114 members with passwords that could be hacked according to the forum software
Thanks for the hard work. I tend to use long numbers I can remember, i.e., 1st driver license number, girl friends phone number, draft registeration number and initials from the family or school. I realize there are machines that can defeat that but they just anger me and get nothing in return, unless they need a sprinkler system inspection form.

Draft registration number? ?? Sorry but my draft card was destroyed in a small fire in the late 1960's. LOL.
